Ashlea from Heart Hook Home

Welcome to Heart Hook Home – I am so glad you’re here!

My name is Ashlea Konecny and I am a wife, mother of two young boys, and yarn enthusiast. In addition to my love of all things fiber related, I also sew, I’ll hot glue just about anything, and I dabble in woodworking. I’m lucky that my husband loves to cook – I have been known to burn macaroni & cheese – so I let him do all the cooking while I stick to fiber of the yarn variety. I only eat the recipes on Heart Hook Home that my husband Paul creates.

My passion for crochet started about five years ago when my little brother Forrest taught me to crochet over the Christmas holiday. Something he told me during our first lesson that I’ve never forgotten: “it’s just one strand of yarn, you can’t screw it up so badly that you can’t rip it out and start again”. He was right, and I haven’t been able to put down the hook since!

I also love to read, and since that isn’t conducive to crochet, I spend most of my crochet time listening to audio books while I work. I would spend every day “reading” and crocheting if I could!

Since starting Heart Hook Home, I have been featured on Country Living, Martha Stewart, in Chickens magazine, Homespun magazine, Wichita magazine, and on Buzz Feed and Little Things. I am thrilled to have reached millions and millions of like-minded fiber enthusiasts!

My husband and I have two boys. Our oldest son Caden has a rare and severe heart defect, Truncus Arteriosus (type 2), that has required three open-heart surgeries to date, with a probability of more in the future. He is the reason for the “HEART” in Heart Hook Home. Our youngest son Cameron is a LEGO enthusiast, a Beatles lover, an aspiring musician, and an avid sports fan.

Be sure to join over 65,000 other fiber and crochet enthusiasts in my Facebook group, Heart Hook Home Crochet Community. Should you wish to get a hold of me or work with me, feel free to contact me or reach out to [email protected].  Again, thank you for visiting, I hope you’ll stay in touch and come back often!

I like your patterns. I also am a Kansas girl. Living in Texas at this time but planning to return as soon as we can manage it. Hoping to land in eastern Kansas.

I think I am already a member of your group. I joined because I live in the biggest city in Kansas. (At least I think it is. ) Several weeks ago you posted a pattern on how to join seam's with 2 stitches. I thought I had saved it and now I can't find it to print it. Could I still get that pattern?

Love making your snowballs! Thank you so much. I can just picture your boys having a snowball fight. I grew up in Shawnee Mission and moved to Michigan in my late teens. Let's just say I prefer YOUR kind of snowball!

Hi, I'm Marie and I'm from around KCMO. Now we live full time in an RV, and are Winter Texans. But we always come back to Missouri. Our 3 kids and 2 grands live in MO too. I've been crocheting about 50 years and it's a tradition for me to make afghans for wedding gifts. Enjoying your website and patterns.

I'm impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that's both equally educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is something too few people are speaking intelligently about. Now i'm very happy I stumbled across this in my hunt for something relating to this.

I just found your site yesterday, because I saw the Grinch Scarf on Facebook. Was disappointed that it was removed by request of the designer. My future daughter-in-law asked if I would make her one. Is there any way to contact the designer to purchase the Grinch Scarf pattern?
