Our Son’s Surgery Update
As many of you know, our oldest son will undergo his third open heart surgery in the middle of August 2015 – next week. For more background you can read this post, but there are a few things I want you to know before we head to the hospital.
First, forgive me if I sound blase lately, I’m finding it harder and harder to act “normal” both in person and here on the blog. I’m just not as excited about the deals as I normally am, for which I do not really apologize.
The closer it gets the more ill I feel. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. The wait, the knowledge of what my child will have to survive again and then recover from again. It is a very heavy emotion indeed. I can’t wait for it to be over.
I will be taking lots of photos and notes, I want to turn this into a way for me to help other families/parents that are facing any kind of surgery. Things that helped and things that did not, or things we would have done differently. I sincerely hope that you will help me share my message throughout. I thank you all very much for your kind words, your prayers and for your patience during this next week or two.

What can you expect from us the week of 8/9?
We should have the Homeland Weekly matchup posted on schedule, we post those every Monday.
We may {but probably won’t} get the Dillons Weekly matchup posted on time that week. Being that his surgery is ON Wednesday and we will spend several hours in pre-op on Tuesday – the day I normally post Dillons – I just don’t think it will happen. I may have someone that can do it, but do not be surprised if it is late for the deals starting the 12th.
The Walmart Price Match List (posted every Wednesday) will no doubt go to the bottom of my to-do list. You can, of course visit each respective Weekly Matchup posted on the blog (Dillons, Homeland, Aldi, CVS, Walgreens, etc), and add all of the items from each store to ONE list and print that. It is essentially the same thing.
The CVS and Walgreens deals starting the week of 8/16 may get pushed out, or I may end up sending you to another blog entirely. I really hate to NOT do them, but we will have family and recovery to worry about. I will keep you updated on that!
I may actually end up working here on DDD quite a bit during the actual surgery. I find that the busier I am the less I focus on other things, and staying busy is good. I’ve also got a few rock star couponing girlfriends that are going to keep an eye out for me with the deals so we will keep you updated for sure!
Finally, thank you for remaining loyal to Deal Detecting Diva. For reading the blog, printing your coupons here and for us being the cyber friends that we are. By continuing to visit our blog for your coupons and other deals, you enable us to spend more time with our family during this time. We appreciate you and I can not WAIT to get back to “normal” life!
