Looking to take up crochet? The very first lesson is learning how to make a crocheted chain.
How to Crochet the Chain Stitch
Chaining is the most basic of crochet stitches, which is why we begin to learn to crochet with this stitch. You’ll not only need to master the making of a chain, but you’ll likely use this stitch in nearly every pattern you read or nearly every crocheted item you create.
You will need a crochet hook and some yarn. I highly recommend using Clover Hooks. I carry mine in my purse at all times. Ha! (no, really)
Creating even and regular stitches is a mastered skill so you’ll want to chain and chain and chain some more to make sure that your stitches are even. Try not to keep your stitches too tight, because if you do, you won’t be able to get your hook back into the stitch to create the first row of your pattern.
When reading a crochet pattern, you’ll see ch-10 or ch-50. This means that you’ll CHAIN 10 or CHAIN 50 stitches to get that pattern started.
Come back often for more crochet tutorial videos, we are recording them and editing them as quickly as we can! We will go in order of the most popular/commonly used stitches as we create NEW videos! How fun!
