The flavor of this blue cheese dressing will change drastically with the kind of blue cheese used. In our house we crave the robust flavor of the Roquefort blue cheese you can find at the cheese counter at the grocery store. If you like a more mild blue cheese flavor, simply substitute with your favorite brand of blue cheese. Although I do recommend a deli variety over pre-packaged if possible.

You can either use a mixing bowl and a spoon to mix your blue cheese dressing, or a stand mixer on the “stir” setting only.

  1. I didn’t think that Roquefort cheese could be purchased in the U.S. due to a ban on the cheese put in place many years ago. If this is true, what would be the closest substitute for Roquefort? If this ban is still in effect, is it possible for me to order Roquefort from France?
    1. I buy Roquefort all the time. Only 3 brands are imported from France. I usually get mine at Whole Foods now, but prior to Covid, I frequently bought it at Safeway and Smith's. I most recently bought a significant amount from a Mennonite store in Albany, Oregon. I have seen it available on Amazon as well. I vastly prefer Roquefort over Bleu. Good luck.
  2. I might suggest a trick I've employed with a similar recipe. Take a third of the Roquefort or Blue Cheese and add it to all of the other ingredients save the remaining cheese. Blend for five full minutes. Then gently mix in the remaining cheese and chill. It seems to add a blue cheese punch with the micro particles as they saturate the palate. Thanks.
