There’s something about sitting in a circle with friends, chatting and crocheting away. Whether we’re watching a campfire or a sporting event, I know I can always use more pockets or compartments for storing my phone, beverage, yarn, and crochet tools like hooks and yarn needles, etc. Enter the Camping Chair Cozy pattern in TWO sizes!

If you, too, love to chat with friends while watching a sporting event or crocheting away, this camping chair caddy is the perfect thing for you. Not only can we have a caddy for our phones and beverages, but now we have a larger one as well for a skein of yarn and our crochet tools! A yarn caddy for your camping chair! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! 😍

There are two sizes of this camp chair cozy pattern. A smaller size that hold a can of pop or beer and your phone, and a larger size that can hold a whole skein of yarn as well as crochet tools such as hooks, scissors, yarn needles, tape measure, etc.

In order to keep the caddy securely in place we’ll use sew-on magnetic closures like these.

If you’re stash busting or cutting costs, you could use the optional chain ties instead. Both work great! I am using a 100% cotton for my cozies, Dishie Worsted, but you can use practically any other worsted weight yarn if you’re stash busting. They are so quick and take not much yarn, so experiment away! 🧶

For the cozy portion of this pattern we are using the Granny Stitch worked in rounds back and forth. For the phone caddy portion of this pattern we are using the Granny Stitch worked in flat row. Both are easy, fun, and quick! Here’s a full tutorial on the Granny Stitch in Flat Rows if you need to get your feet wet first.

Ready? Let’s make some camping chair cozies!

  1. Love how these turned out! I shortened the drink holder part by two rows as it turned out pretty tall with the yarn I was using (making the small version). I used a button for connecting the two sides together. I love how quickly these work up! Thanks for the pattern.
  2. I tried making the large version of the cozy and going to 72 stitches my diameter was 7.5" so I guess that's not going to work. Awesome idea if I could figure out how to make it with less stitches.
    1. Hi Melissa! Sounds like your gauge may be a bit bigger than mine was...you could try going down a hook size or 2.
  3. What a great idea!! Seems every chair i get has the drink holder on the wrong side for me so this is great!! Cant wait to make!
