This little quacktastic duck bookmark is perfect for Easter baskets and excellent for young readers. If you are brand new to amigurumi (stuffed crochet) this is also a great little project to get your feet wet!

For amigurumi, you’ll want to work in the round and in a spiral (not joining at the end of every round); this helps to keep the overall look as seamless as possible. More tips to come specifically for amigurumi crochet fun here on Heart Hook Home! Stay tuned, friends. šŸ˜‰

Beak:
Round 1: Magic circle. 8sc in circle, pull tight. (8)
Round 2: sc in each st around (8)
Round 3: *sc in next st, 2sc in next* repeat from * * around (12)
Round 4: sc in each st around (12)
Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Construction:

Using upholstery needle, add feet two stitches in from each side. Weave in ends down the length of the feet. Add the beak to the 11th through 13th row from the top of head (I made mine droop a little on each side to form a “beak”) – or wherever you see fit. Ā If using buttons instead of safety eyes, place them around row 9, about 5 sts apart. Ā Use your needle to break up the “hair” fibers and trim as needed.

When making Duck Crochet Bookmark I must be having a "sometimers" moment. Did not know what hk in the following directions meant. Please advise. Also my bookmark was large. A side note--made it from plarn. (Dollar General bags are yellow.) Feet (make two): Ch-8. Sl st in 2nd ch from hk and in next 2 sts. Ch-4, sl st in 2nd ch from hk and in next 2 sts. Ch-4, sl st in 2nd ch from hk and in next 2 sts. Make 4 sl sts up the beg ch. Leave a tail for sewing.

Hi Donna! You could try loosening your tension a bit while working the strap...or you could try blocking it.
