Cocoon Sweater Crochet Pattern
This cocoon pattern is available in three sizes: petite, one-size, and plus size. Since this is not a fitted garment, the sizing is very forgiving and the one-size will work for most body types.
Petite would be nice for folks that are on the shorter side, the One-Size would be best for anyone of “average” height and between the US dress sizes approximately size 6 to size 20 or so, and the Plus Size is best suited for larger sizes.
For this pattern we are using the Herringbone Half Double Crochet merged with the Moss stitch. If you can crochet a Herringbone Half Double (here’s a tutorial) and the chain stitch, you’re all set!

Construction (all sizes):
Lay square flat so that row one is at the bottom.
Fold all four corners in, with the points nearly reaching in the middle.
Line up the first row to the last row. This will be the body opening. Sew horizontally for the width of ~10” to create armholes. The inside opening should be all single crochets.
Edging (all sizes):
Attach anywhere along inner edging with sl st.
Row 1: Ch-8, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Sl st to corresponding open stitch on body. (7)
Row 2: Sl st to next open st on body, turn. Sc in BLO of next 6 sts, sc in both loops of last st. (7)
Row 3: Ch-1, turn, sc in BLO of each st to end. Sl st to corresponding open st on body. (7)
Alternate rows 2 & 3 all the way around the entire opening of the cardigan.
When you reach the beginning, sew the first row of the edging to the last row of edging and weave in all ends. You’re finished!
