Baby Bear Newborn Sleeper

This bear sleeper pattern is adorable. It is long enough to keep those legs warm, and open at the bottom for easy diaper changes. This infant sleeper crochet pattern can be made using a different yarn weight and hook size to make it larger or smaller – without having to alter the pattern!

This pattern is very simple to make and uses the double crochet stitch to make up the majority of the sleeper. The edging around the hood uses Front Post and Back Post crochet, and there is a tutorial for this technique here.

Materials:

DK/Size 3 yarn (“Moss” colorway of Swish DK shown)
-approx. 480 yards with size 7/4.5 mm hook

Worsted weight yarn for larger, 3-6 month size (Big Twist Value Yarn shown)
-approx. 630 yards with size I/5.5mm hook

Gauge:

Newborn: 18 dc sts x 10 dc rows = 4” square for DK weight

3 – 6 Month: 13 sts x 7.5 rows = 4” square for worsted weight

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written in US terms.

The ch-2 at the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch.

Foundation Double Crochet (tutorial here)

The pattern for both sizes remains the same. Simply change the yarn size and hook size to match which size you intend to make. You could even go with a bulky weight yarn and a 7mm hook to make it larger yet!
