Amigurumi Pig Bookmark Crochet Pattern

Oink oink!! After the Quacktastic duck bookmark, the adorable Frog bookmark and the Hippity Hoppity bunny rabbit bookmark, I felt we needed to add a pig to this happy little bookmark farm. 😉 You’ll definitely want to use the Invisible Decrease when crocheting amigurumi, and make sure you are moving your stitch marker up each round to keep on track!
Pig Bookmark Crochet Pattern
This pig bookmark is simply adorable! You will need…
Materials:
Size G (4mm) crochet hook
Stitch marker
Pink worsted weight yarn
Black worsted weight yarn (just enough for nose)
Two buttons for eyes (or safety eyes if for a small child)
Upholstery needle
Polyfill (or extra yarn as stuffing)
Gauge:
Unimportant
Notes:
*Work in a spiral, do NOT join at the end of each round
*Use your stitch marker to note the beginning stitch of each row
*Use Invisible Decrease for prettier sc2tog (see video tutorial)
Pattern:
Head:
Round 1: Magic circle. 8sc in circle. (8)
Round 2: 2sc in each st around (16)
Round 3: sc in each st around (16)
Round 4: *sc in next st, 2sc in next* repeat from * * around (24)
Round 5: sc in each st around (24)
Round 6: *sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next* repeat from * * around (32)
***if using safety eyes add between the the and 10th row***
Rounds 7 – 13: sc in each st around (32)
Round 14: *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog* repeat from * * around (24)
Round 15: sc in each st around (24)
Round 16: *sc in next st, sc2tog* repeat from * * around (16)
***add stuffing and begin strap***
Squish the head closed and line up the remaining 16 sts. Crochet through the very first two, then the next two, then the next two etc to the end until you have a closed head with 8 stitches across.
Strap:
Rows 1 – 50 (or until strap is about 9” long): Ch-1, sc in each st across. (8)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Ears (make two):
Round 1: Magic circle. 6sc in circle. (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each st around (12)
Round 3: *sc in next st, 2sc in next* repeat from * * around (18)
Rounds 4 & 5: sc in each st around (18)
Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.
Nose:
Round 1: Magic circle, ch-1, 10sc in circle. Join with sl st top top of first sc (10)
Round 2: ch-1, 2sc in each st around. Join with sl st top top of first sc (20)
Round 3: working in blo Ch-1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st top top of first sc (20)
Rounds 4 & 5: Ch-1, sc in each st around (20)
Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.
Tail:
Ch-15, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each to end.
Construction:
Using upholstery needle, add the curly cue tail to the center of bottom. Weave in end down the length of the tail. Add two small “nostrils” to the nose using black yarn and add nose to the center of the head.
Fold each ear in half (as pictured) and sew about three rows down from the magic circle where you started. Place eyes on either side of nose and you are done!
