Summer Sultan Cardi

The Summer Sultan Cardi pattern ranges from XS to 5XL. For this cardigan we are using the Sultan Stitch, a quick and easy-to-crochet stitch that gives great drape and allows air to flow, keeping you both covered and cool.

I decided to use Cotlin yarn from WeCrochet for this pattern, a 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen blend. This colorway is “Cerise” and it is the perfect shade of pink! ♥

Because of the high content of cotton this makes the yarn more breathable and great for warm weather wearables. Not to mention the fabulous texture and drape provided by the linen mixed in! * chef’s kiss *

Materials:

Cotlin yarn (lightweight/size 3/DK weight, 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen)
-approx. yardage (1050, 1175, 1350, 1475, 1600, 1700, 1885, 2000, 2200)

Crochet hook in size G/4mm

Sizing: (XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

Find this pattern on Ravelry, on Etsy, or right here on the Heart Hook Home blog shop! Thank you!

The body of this cardigan is designed to be a bit more roomy than normal. I wanted to have a nice, relaxed fit.

I almost always make two versions of any wearable pattern I design. This not only helps me to double check (along with my amazing testers) that the pattern is correct, but to check yardage using a substitute yarn and to come up with other options in case the recommended yarn (Cotlin in this case) is not an option for you.

Other yarn options that would work great for this summer cardi would be Sugarwheel cotton (“Endless Sea” pictured here), or Lion Brand Comfy Cotton, or any lightweight cotton blend yarn that allows you to meet gauge. As always, buy an extra skein just in case!

I hope you love this pattern as much as I enjoyed creating it. I plan to wear mine all summer, everywhere! Great around the campfire, for roasting marshmallows, for running errands, or for chillin’ on the couch with the family. ♥

  1. Love, love, love the STITCH and your pattern! Plus it is so fantastic when the gauge is the pocket. I made my cards out of CRAZY yarn that I had been given (Yarn Bee Soft Delight) so needed a J hook. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/54/04/321C7702-E47D-4FA7-AA7C-5B5F76E78842/IMG_0366.HEIC I think it look good and can’t wait til Texas has cooler weather!
  2. Hi Ashlea. Would I be able to make this like a midi cardi with shorter sleeves? I dont know if the pattern would be easily altered. Thank you!
    1. You can easily make longer (or shorter) by doing more (or less) rows before starting the armhole panels. And the sleeves can be shortened by doing fewer rows as well.
  3. I am working on the edging it seems to be fanning a bit. Do you have any pointers? Should I start row 3 with both loops? Thanks
  4. Hi Ashlea! Is there a size difference between the pink cardigan and the blue one? My preference is the pink one as it looks a little more fitted, and I'd love to make it so that it fits me exactly the same way. I wear either a size small or medium. This cardigan is beautiful! Thanks in advance! Lisa
  5. Noticed you don’t have the pattern in a 1X. Noticed this with others as well. Is there a reason for this ?
  6. Hi, Ashley! Does the pattern have the pockets included in it? Thanks for such a gorgeous piece!!
  7. Ok, just purchased mine. Working on Grid Cardi right now, but this definately get fit into my WIPs pile. Thanks Love!
  8. I really love your pattern, I will definitely be crocheting this. Thank you so much for sharing with is. ❤
  9. Hi Ashlea, Quick question is this pattern one piece and seamless except for sleeves? I don't do well with multiple pieces that I then need to sew together, never seems to work out well. But your one piece patterns e.g hedonist housecoat and Elizabeth cardigan were perfect, easy and came out great! Thank you!
