I don’t often shop for myself. When I do, however, I am always drawn to circle bags. But then I can never get myself to spend the money on them, soooo when I spotted nylon thread on clearance at my local craft store, you know I snatched that right up! This NEW circle bag pattern is fun, free, and certainly useful. Let’s make it!

Make one:
Row 1: Ch-17, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each to end. (16)
Rows 2 – 103: Ch-1, turn, sc in each st to end. (16)
Do not fasten off.
Position the strip around the first circle as pictured. There should be 56 sts as the bag opening. Use stitch markers to pin into place as pictured.
Where still attached, sl st to corresponding st on circle. Going around entire circle, through both sides of the fabric where required, sc around entire opening. Join to first sc with slip st.
Ch-1, crab stitch in each st around. Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat steps on the other side of bag.
Lay bag flat and tuck bottom inside. Count 20 rows down from opening. Pinch together as pictured and feed yarn through to create a permanent crease. Tie a few strong knots and thoroughly weave all ends into place. Do the same on the opposite side. Position handles on each side of bag opening, up high on the inside and about 6″ apart. Sew straps on using heavy duty thread and needle.
That. Is. It! You could choose to add a zipper and a lining to the bag. (I went so far as to buy a zipper and I may get around to it at some point – but I kind of like it like this!) I hope you love your new circle bag too!
