Sock Yarn Gloves

I love the way colors transition in sock weight yarn, and when I saw this Sock Yarn during a yarn run to Joann, I knew I had to use it to make gloves. You could use another other sock weight yarn, or size one/super fine yarn, like Red Heart’s Patons Kroy. I love that we need less than one skein! Find some super cute buttons to match, or use some you have on hand.

  1. Hi. I am crocheting the gloves and I am confused by the last (33) row/ border. What does 3hdc in corner mean? And hdc in each row?
    1. I haven't made this yet but normally, 3 hdc means 3 half double crochet means half double crochet in same stitch. You work half double by yarn over your hook, place in indicating stitch, yarn over, pull through, (3 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through all three loops. 1st half double crochet done. Do 2 more in same stitch. Hope this helps.
  2. Thank you so much for this pattern. I was "gifted" some beautiful sock yarn and had no idea what to do with it since here in the South we don't wear a lot of socks, LOL! I am going to make these gloves for my daughters and granddaughters.
  3. Is the pattern adaptable to 4 weight yarn? I love this pattern but my hands don’t have the dexterity for small hooks. Thank you!
    1. Hi Pattie! Unfortunately, adapting for a 4 weight yarn would mean rewriting the whole pattern. I do have a similar pattern that uses 4 weight yarn which can be found here: https://hearthookhome.com/texting-gloves-pattern/
