Earlier this year I sat down with my sister-in-law, Marla, to look at stitch dictionaries for her birthday. I know, not the usual gift, but what we ended up with is absolutely amazing! The Marla’s Tee is the staple of the NEW Marla’s Summertime Set. This Tee is the perfect thing to wear over a swimsuit to the pool, over a sports bra when it’s SUPER hot outside, or to spice up date night with flashy jewelry. Let’s make one!

Marla’s Summer Tee
This tee combines simple stitches: the single crochet and chains. This stitch set is called the Double Diamond Mesh stitch and it is surprisingly easy. Once you get going, it works up so fast and it’s hard to put down!

For Marla’s Summer Set patterns (the tee, the skirt, and the shorts) I used CotLin yarn. This is an excellent cotton blend that offers breathability and excellent drape. CotLin is a 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen blend, so if you want to substitute yarns you’ll want to look for a cotton or cotton blend as well. Some good options would include Lion Brand’s Coboo, Dilly Dally from WeCrochet, and Premier Cotton Fair.
The Marla’s Tee comes in Heart Hook Home’s usual NINE sizes: XS through 5XL. I used a new color of CotLin, Beetroot, that is absolutely divine! Bright and fun and just the right shade of pink.

Of course when you’re done with Marla’s Tee, you might want to make the matching shorts or skirt. These work great as a set over a swimsuit or at the beach. If you’re going to wear a swimsuit, do it in style!

Find the shorts and the skirt patterns in the Marla’s Summertime Set blog post here.
