Slow Cooker Ham & Beans
Slow cooker Ham & Beans is the perfect {easy} recipe for a rainy day or a comfort food day. Bake some Honey Jalapeño Cornbread to soak up the delicious juices. Let’s dig in!

Ingredients:
- Roughly 3 lbs. of Ham (I used approx. 1/3 of a 9 1/2 lb. Smoked Bone-In Ham)
- 16 oz. Bag of Dry Great Northern or Cannellini Beans (rinsed and then soaked overnight) or 3 15.5 oz. cans (drained).
- (1) 32 oz. Carton of Chicken Broth
- 2 Cups Water
- 2 Cubes of Chicken Bouillon or a TBL of Ham or Chicken Better than Bouillon Paste
- 1 Large Onion, Diced
- 1 Large Jalapeno, Diced (remove seeds if you’re sensitive to spice)
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 1 TBL Minced Garlic
- 1 TBL Honey
- 1 TSP Parsley Flakes
- Salt and Pepper to taste

Here’s what you’ll do:
Take your smoked ham, cut it into a bunch of good sized cubes, and throw it into the Crock-Pot. I found a big 9 1/2 lb. bone-in smoked ham at my local supermarket for 99¢ a lb., separated it into roughly 3 equal parts, and used one of those and saved the other two thirds for breakfast ham and sandwich meat.
Then take a 16 oz. bag of Great Northern or Cannellini Beans (rinsed and soaked overnight) and add it to the Crock-Pot along with the remaining ingredients. If you decide to use canned beans you’ll want to wait and add those about an hour before everything else is done. Turn your Crock-Pot to low and cook for roughly 8-10 hours or until the beans become nice and soft.
Wanna save this for later?
Then when you’re ready to eat just serve it up. Did I mention this pairs perfectly with my Honey Jalapeño Cornbread recipe?
Doesn’t get much easier than that. Enjoy!

I found this recipe around Christmas time. My boyfriends mom requested Ham and beans for Christmas dinner. I made this recipe on Christmas Eve so all I would have to do is reheat it on Christmas Day since I was also doing a ham and turkey breast and sides. Let’s just say my boyfriend got into them as a midnight snack and loved them and the next day when I warmed them up they were even better. So comforting and such an easy but delicious recipe!
My dad used to make this all the time. It tastes great with kidney, pinto or other beans added, too.
Great recipe!!! I used two large ham bones with plenty of meat on them. I slow cooked them and it came out great!! I soaked the beans overnight and cooked them on the stove for an hour. They came out very tender. I combine the ham and beans with a pound of Polska Keilbasa and the rest of the ingredients in the crockpot on warm setting for a few hours. Came out amazing!!
I did not have the jalapeño. I put in the hambone, and waited to add the cooked him until the last hour. At that time I added another 32 ounce carton of vegetable stock because there was not enough broth in the crockpot. It had a magical flavor! We will eat this again! Thanks For the wonderful recipe.
Correct him to ham
Do i add the bone also?
Can I use leftover ham? Should it be added at the beginning of cooking the beans?
That’s what I do and it works out fantastic plus, you save money 🙂
Can caned beans be used?
Yes, you can!
