I am SO excited to announce a NEW Crochet Along: The “Woven In Time” Sofa Blanket! This half double crochet blanket is such an easy crochet blanket, so if you are just learning how to crochet, This is a great beginner project! If you are a more experienced crocheter this would be an excellent project to keep your crojo while watching listening to Netflix, an audio book, or while the family watches a movie or sports on TV. Crochet along with us!

Woven In Time Sofa Blanket

I really really wanted to call this one the “Weave Me Alone” sofa blanket (bahaha!), but because this blanket makes me think of my Grandma’s handmade quilts – the ones with little yarn tufts peeking out at specific intervals – and because we are crocheting this together as a crochet along, I decided on “Woven in Time”. I love the nostalgic vibe! ♥

My goal for this CAL is to use up worsted weight yarn. This could be scraps left over from other, long-ago projects, or it could be that you’re just trying to use up some of your stash. This sofa blanket would be PERFECT for a stash buster blanket! Of course, you could use two (or three or four!) solid colors as I have.

blanket cal crochet pattern

My favorite part? This blanket CAL requires ZERO SEWING! You would think it does, but it, in fact, does not.

Head on over to Ravelry and add this pattern to your favorites. Now that the crochet along has finished, you can purchase the complete, ad-free, printable file there as well. In the printable file, which you can find here, I break down the patterns for each part of each size individually for you, like this:

woven in time sofa blanket printable pattern

If you are using the free pattern here on the blog, your finished blanket will be just the same, only you will need to pay attention to 1.) how many of each strip is listed for your desired size below, and 2.) the stitch counts of each strip. Insert those numbers into the patterns you’ll find in part one and part two respectively. The row counts remain the same on all sizes of this pattern.

Materials:

To construct this project, we crochet strips that we will then compile together to form a blanket. This blanket consists of two strip patterns, part one (color A) and part two (color B). You will need the following:

Worsted weight yarn

Crochet hook in size I/5.5mm

Yarn Needle

A large, flat surface (preferably a table at which you can sit and lay out the blanket, but the floor will work as well)

This sofa blanket will be perfect for cuddling up on the couch to watch a movie, or as a wedding gift, etc! When finished with the CAL, I will share other sizes of the pattern with you so that you may make different sizes including a baby blanket, full size, or even a king size blanket!

Crochet-Along Dates:

I am giving everyone two weeks to complete each portion. Since there are 9 pieces in part one and 11 pieces in part two, I didn’t want to give you more pieces than there are days in which to complete them. This is supposed to be fun, not a race! 😀

Part ONE will be published on Friday, February 15th – see part ONE here.

Part TWO will be published on Friday, March 1st – see part TWO here.

Part THREE will be published on Friday, March 15th – see part THREE here.

You may begin posting your final reveals in the Heart Hook Home Crochet Community as soon as you are finished, with a CAL closing date of March 29th.

There will not be a video tutorial for this CAL because it really is extremely easy. I will, however, be discussing each portion during my live videos on the Heart Hook Home Facebook page.

Of course, this sofa blanket pattern will remain on Heart Hook Home indefinitely, and for free, so you can join in at any time, or work straight through after we have finished the Crochet-Along. Follow along on the Heart Hook Home Facebook page for updates and to be alerted when new parts are released.

I can not WAIT to share each part with you, and to see everyone’s progress as we work together!

What is the length and width of each size strip supposed to be for the sofa blanket. What are the measurements for the completed sofa blanket?

This caught my eye right off. I’m not sure if I can stay in the time frame. I am my 95:yo mom’s primary caregiver. Sometimes there is a lot of time and other times there is time do sit for very long. But I intend to give it a go

Just an update. I wasn’t sure if I could keep up with the time frame. Well, I have just 2.5 panels left to be ready for step three. My mom is getting excited to,see the finished project. She can no longer do any of these things. Dementia has stolen most,of it and her 95 y.o. F,infers won’t. Co-operate anylonger somshe says she is my advisor. She does that wonderfully, ideas, colors, etc she can still do. This has been a fun project .

Ashley, what if I do not have an area wide enough to spread this out? Are you talking about when it is time to do the border? Do you think the pieces will stay woven to do this in my lap? I really love it. All I would have is a bed and I could not stand up to work on it. Any suggestions??
