I am ecstatically happy to announce that I am planning a NEW CAL, this time a Dragon Tears Coin Purse Crochet Along! This is a mini-CAL, so it will only have two parts, and in this post I will explain how it will work!

Dragon Tears Coin Purse Crochet Along

Let me first say that I learned a lot during my very first CAL and I am more than ready to knock this one out of the ball park! In this crochet along, we are making the smallest size of my Dragon Tears Purse pattern. That pattern includes three sizes: a full-size purse, a cosmetic bag size, and a coin purse. You do not have to purchase the pattern as we are only including one size. Although once we tackle the small one you may want a full size purse! 😉

I will record two full videos of me making the smallest size, the coin purse, and we will ALL make it together!

In this Crochet Along you will learn:

How to crochet the crocodile stitch.

How to add a lining to a crocheted bag.

How to add a zipper to a crocheted bag.

There will be oodles of little knowledge nuggets along the way, and you will walk away feeling like a crochet wizard!

You will need:

Approx. 40 – 50 yards cotton yarn
*I am using I Love This Cotton!

Crochet hook in size G/4mm

Small bit of fabric (at least 8″ x 8″)
*fat quarters (like this) will work perfectly!

7″ or longer non-separating zipper (polyester OR invisible) in corresponding color

Sewing pins

Sewing needle and thread
*match your thread to the yarn color, not the zipper or fabric.

Iron.

Dates for this CAL

In order to give everyone time to both gather supplies and enjoy Mother’s Day (May 13th), this Dragon Tears Coin Purse Crochet Along will start on Monday, May 14th. I will be including videos of the ENTIRE process, paying special attention to adding the lining and zipper. We will be sewing this by hand, and it is much easier than it sounds. Promise!

May 14th:

Part ONE – we will crochet the base and the body of the coin purse.

*part one is ready! Get it here.

May 19th:

Part TWO – we will add the lining and the zipper.

Sign up for EMAIL alerts right here. You will receive a reminder email then both parts of the Crochet Along are released. Woohoo!

I am SO very excited to work on this project with you, and just think! In just a couple short weeks you will know how to add a lining and a zipper to ANY crocheted bag!

So, watch for this NEW Crochet Along to start right here on HeartHookHome.com on May 14th BUT I also want to see what yarn and fabric/zipper you choose! So share a photo with me in the Heart Hook Home Crochet Community so we can all “ooooh” and “ahhhh” over each other’s coin purses!

  1. I am just trying to increase my crocheting skills. I have only ever made fan stitch blankets and have got good tension control now so it’s time to move forward. Also slowly learning to follow crochet instructions. Thank you for setting up your blog
  2. Love your pattern, but the easier way to do a zipper is to crochet directly around it and work top down.
