If I had to rank the perfect blanket pattern’s top three qualities they would be… how fun it is to make, the ease of customize the sizing, and the finished result. The NEW Zoe’s Tunisian Join As You Go blanket pattern ticks all of those boxes. Let’s make one!

Tunisian Join As You Go Blanket Pattern

One thing in crochet that I truly love? Tunisian crochet. I love the versatility of it, I love the feel of it, I love the almost-knit-look of it, and above all I love to create it. There’s something about getting all those loops on your hook and then knocking them off in a rhythmic, continuous motion until you get back to that single solitary loop that is just so satisfying.

If you are new to Tunisian Crochet this is an excellent pattern for you to try. Each strip is only a few inches wide so this would also be a great way for you to master stitches and/or techniques, and to really get a grip on your tension. See what I did there? Ha!

If you are brand new to Tunisian Crochet, be sure to head over and check out the Ultimate Guide to Tunisian Crochet and you might enjoy the Tunisian Basics Crochet Along. You’ll learn a bunch of new stitches and have a blanket at the end of it! Awesome!

What’s great about Zoe’s Tunisian join as you go chevron blanket is that we can literally make it ANY size. We’ll start with the left strip, making that as tall as we need it to be. You might want to refer to the Blanket Sizing Chart I have compiled for you here. (Don’t forget to bookmark the page for later!)

If you do expect to change the sizing of this blanket… Instead of fastening off on that first strip, place a stitch marker and leave the yarn attached in case you need to add more length later. Then attach with a contrasting color yarn at the bottom corner of that strip, making it the same height as the first. When that strip is done, attach at the bottom of that strip and repeat the process. Keep adding strips until the fabric is as wide as you’d like it to be.

What if you get all of your strips added and you decide you need more length? Just go back to the first strip and add that length, then add the same height to the second strip and on each subsequent strip until you get them all the same. Watch the video tutorial on the pillow pattern post and I’ll walk you through getting started and joining the strips together.

If you’d rather start with a smaller sample, try the Zoe’s Pillow Cover instead. That’s quicker and a great way to get your feet wet without jumping all the way in. The pillow pattern I’m working on in the video is the same technique as the blanket pattern below.
