Want some cute home decor you can crochet before Valentine’s Day? Let’s whip up a couple of crocheted hearts that we’ll sandwich together to make a super sweet little hot pad! Grab your hook and let’s work up some super quick, super easy heart shaped trivets.

Heart Shaped Hot Pad Free Crochet Pattern
Every time you reach for your heart hot pad you’ll smile knowing that you made that! Of course you can use pink yarn, or white yarn, or even black yarn for a heart hot pad too.

Crocheting in the shape of a heart is easier than it sounds. In fact, it’s very similar to each end of the Dog Bone Christmas Stocking. Make this pattern for using in the kitchen or make the smaller size heart motif to use for Valentine’s Day parties. Stick a sucker through the center and voila!

For this crochet hot pad pattern I am using a worsted weight 100% cotton yarn in red. You can use Herrschners Craft Cotton (they also have this yarn in a 5-pk which is an excellent value), Dishie from WeCrochet, Premier Home Cotton Blend, or any other worsted cotton you like. We are pairing this yarn with a G/4mm crochet hook – using the new Heart Hook Home Hook Set!

Fasten off the first using Invisible Join. Do NOT fasten off the second.
Construction:
Position wrong sides together and line up stitch for stitch. Use stitch markers if necessary. Where still attached, ch-1, sc through both thicknesses around, using a sc3tog at the top of the heart and 3sc at the bottom peak of the heart.

When you get back to where you started, ch-20, and sl st to the base of the chain to create a hanger. Fasten off leaving a long enough tail to feed the yarn to the center of the hot pad – about 10″ or so. Feed yarn through to center of heart, sewing the two pieces of fabric together so they can’t come apart. Weave in all ends.
You’re finished!
