This Valentine’s Day, let’s send the littles to their classroom parties with super cute, super easy, and super inexpensive Valentine’s Day hearts to give to their classmates. These hearts are PERFECT for little appliques, motifs, for a little pouch when sandwiched together, or anytime you need to remind someone you love that they are loved. ♥

Crochet Valentine Heart Pattern
These little hearts are only 76 stitches total – just two rounds! They take less than 10 minutes to crochet a piece, and you can shove a sucker through the stitches and call it a Valentine. ♥

This is a great, inexpensive way to celebrate the holiday using yarn you probably already have on hand. Any shade of red, pink, or white would do! I even made a black heart using this hot pad pattern.

The great news is that if you are making a bunch of these for a child’s Valentine’s Day party, to be used as coasters, or to string together as bunting, the kind of yarn you use really doesn’t matter. You could use a cotton as I have done here (Craft Cotton and Dishie are favorites of mine), or you could use some acrylic like Brava or Mellowspun. The “Rainbow” colorway of the Prism would be adorable as well!

A heart-shaped crochet bunting would be super cute hanging in a classroom or across the mantel or doorway of your home.

For these little heart motifs you’ll need less than 10 yards of yarn, and for the larger pattern size included you’ll need less than 16 yards. We are using Craft Cotton from Herrschners which has 115 yards, so that means we should be able to get about 12 small hearts from one skein! If you need a bunch, they also have this same yarn in a 5-pk which is an excellent value. Or, use stash yarn!

We are pairing this with a G/4mm crochet hook – using the new Heart Hook Home Hook Set!
