Do you and your family or partner like to go to sporting events and concerts? There are more and more venues that don’t allow bags to be brought in, so we find ourselves cramming all of our necessaries into pockets or holding them in our hands, hoping for the best. Instead of doing all of that, let’s crochet a bucket hat using this FREE pattern that transforms into a cross-body bag!

Sure, you could get yourself a clear bag (and actually, I do have this one from WeCrochet and it’s a great size) but you don’t have to either! I always feel more secure when I’ve got all of my things in once place, close to my waist and that I can keep a hand on. I love a good cross body bag for that reason. Not only that, but this bucket hat-turned carry-all bag is not see-through in case I’ve got feminine products with me or something else I might not want displayed to the world.

Having different things in different pockets where I don’t usually carry things always makes me anxious. I’m constantly checking my pockets instead of enjoying the show or the game. This pattern changes all of that. I hope you love it, too!

For this super easy, awesomely clever crochet bucket hat pattern we are using less than one skein of Tom Daley’s cotton yarn, Made with Love – The Cottony One. This yarn is great for this bucket hat because it has a majority cotton (60% cotton/40% acrylic) which makes for a durable and shape-holding cross-body bag as well.

How smart is this little bucket hat/bag? Wear the hat into the arena or venue and when you’re ready take it off, empty your pockets into the hat, pull the drawstring, and sling it over your shoulder. Gosh, I love this so much! Let’s make one – or five!

Another great yarn for this would be the Cottage Cotton. It is also a 60% cotton/40% acrylic blend and has a bit more yardage in each skein. The colors are fabulous! Which color will you use for yours?
