2026 Toy and Game Crochet Series – starting NOW!
This year the series is focused on FUN. We’ll crochet things for family game night, for outdoor fun, for the kids, for toy/game storage and more. I can’t wait!
This first month we’re making a Toy Hammock for extra storage. Get those toys up and off the floor! Orrrr you could hang the net in your craft space and put yarn in it! Ha! I can always use more yarn storage and I just love the look and the function of this crocheted storage net.

For this toy hammock I decided to use the Granny Stitch worked in a triangle. Using just double crochet we can continue to grow the net as large as it needs to be.
For this pattern I am using Cottage Cotton in the “Chiffon” colorway. This is a cotton/acrylic blend that is worsted weight. You could also use Dishie cotton, Craft Cotton, or any other worsted weight cotton or cotton blend. Check out the size 4 (worsted weight) cotton blend yarns available online using the Virtual Yarn Aisle.
This is an extremely easy pattern. Just keep growing until the net is as large as you need it to be. In my research on sizing, most are around 40″ wide. Easy peasy! Now Let’s make a toy hammock, shall we?

When the net is as large as needed for the space you’re filling, simple fasten off and weave in all ends. If you have remaining yarn in your skein, consider making some fringe or tassels and hanging across the front! How sweet is this storage solution?

Hang the triangle toy net in the corner, with the corner-most point a bit higher than the front two points. I found it easiest to hang the front two points before hanging the corner.

Whether you’re storing toys, games, stuffed animals, or even yarn, this free crochet pattern is the perfect solution! What will you store in your toy hammock?
