There’s something about big, gorgeous monstera leaves that have oodles of fenestrations. 🌱 When I created this monstera wall hanging I knew I had to take the largest leaf and turn it into a fun outdoor rug. Now you, too, can have a monstera leaf rug for your patio!

I love to incorporate crochet in any capacity into my daily life. Now when I sit out on the patio – to crochet, of course! – I get to enjoy this big, beautiful, fenestrated leaf rug. This monstera leaf rug is quick to crochet because we are using three strands of jute twine (3mm thickness).

You may want to wear gloves (such as gardening gloves) because the rough texture of the jute can rub and irritate your fingers/hand as you’re crocheting.

Materials:

3mm Jute twine (three strands held together)
-approx. 220 yards per strand, 660 yards total

Crochet hook in size 12mm

*I’ve seen jute twine at Dollar Tree as well… could be an economical option if not too thin.

Gauge: unimportant

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written using US terms.

The chain(s) at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.

Finished Dimensions: approx. 30″ left to right and 26″ top to bottom

If you want to make this using an acrylic yarn (say for an indoor rug or in a nursery etc), that would work great as well! The 3mm size of the jute twine is about the same sized/weight as worsted weight yarn.
