What do you wear when the weather can’t make up its mind? An open work slouchy hat, that’s what! This Grid Slouch is a perfect accessory for literally anyone, anywhere. Let’s work one up today!
Grid Slouch
Here in Kansas, the weather could be 70 degrees one day and 32 the next. Like last week, for example. This hat is also great for those quick runs to the store when your hair is a mess, or for wearing to a weekend camping trip, or a music festival, or on a windy day. Basically it’s my new favorite accessory and it should be yours, too!
For this slouchy crochet hat we are using the Grid Stitch – which consists of double crochets, single crochets, and chain stitches. Super easy, and super quick to work up!
I am using Twill Worsted yarn in the “Dungaree” colorway for my Grid Slouch. This yarn is absolutely divine, and is a 100% Superwash Merino Wool. Since it’s superwash it will not felt when washed, and is so soft to the touch. You’ll be surprised it’s wool!
Of course, if you are allergic to wool or would like to use up some of your stash, a regular worsted weight yarn would work just fine.

If this is the first time you’ve worked the Grid Stitch, I hope you love it! This is the same stitch I used to make the Grid Cardi, and the Yoga Mat Bag pattern, both favorites of mine! ♥ Please share a photo of yours in the Heart Hook Home Crochet Community on Facebook or by tagging @HeartHookHome across all social media so I can see! 🧐
