This steering wheel cover is the newest installment in the 2022 Car Series on Heart Hook Home, and I just love how bright, cheery, and chic it is! Grab your cotton yarn and your crochet hook and let’s whip up one of these flower crochet steering wheel covers for warm weather. 🌺
Steering Wheel Cover Crochet Pattern
What I love most about this steering wheel cover is the pop of color and the flowery center. We are using almost the same beginning as the Marigold Sky Granny Square and building onto that to build little petals that grow to cover the wheel. Isn’t that adorable?!
I plan to use my cover in the summer time, when the sun beats down and heats up the steering wheel to the point that it is hard to hold your hand on it for too long without burning yourself. I hate that! Now when I pop into the store, I can cover the wheel and remove it when I get back to the car. I do not recommend driving with it on, but it sure does look cute when parked, and functional in the heat too!
Side note – My friend Sarah gave me this adorable little keychain and I decided to name him Alfonso and hang him from my rear view mirror. I smile every time I look at him! ♥
The average steering wheel is between 14 – 15″ diameter. This cover will fit most steering wheels without needing to be modified.
We are using Dishie Cotton for this pattern – a 100% cotton. You don’t need much! You will need three different colors of yarn, and scrap cotton would work perfectly fine. You could technically use acrylic yarn but it will stretch out while cotton yarn will not.
Materials:
Dishie 100% cotton yarn in three different colors (Creme Brulee, Jade, and Begonia pictured)
