Have you ever wondered if you could crochet a set of poker chips? The short answer is YES! Grab your hook and let’s whip up some DIY poker chips to play cards with the family during game night.

Poker Chips Crochet Pattern
This is the second installment of the 2026 Toy and Game Crochet Series. This year we will publish twelve new crochet patterns that are all geared either toward toys, games, or toy and game storage. Sweet!

The first pattern of the year was the Toy Hammock – a great way to get those toys up and off the floor. Or you could use it to store some of your yarn stash like I have. Ha! I can use all the fiber storage I can get.

This month’s installment is a set of poker chips that are super quick and easy to work up. You only need to know how to crochet the double crochet stitch, the single crochet stitch and the slip stitch. If you need help reading a crochet pattern, make sure you head over here and check out this detailed post.

For this pattern I am using Curio #3 and a 2mm crochet hook. In my research, some poker chip sets have about 100 chips. Some poker chip sets I found online have 300 or more chips. Dang!

I won’t be going that wild with mine, just enough for the family to sit and enjoy a few hands of Texas Hold ’em or 5 Card Draw after dinner.

We’ll use white, red, blue, green, and black crochet thread to make the coolest crocheted poker chips ever. Of course you can make as many as you like, and in whatever colors you like. You can also make them as valuable as you want. That red might even be worth $1,000 in family game night money… OR it could be worth one emptying the dishwasher, or doing the dusting… you get the idea. I think I like where this is going!

My boys have always loved playing poker around the dining room table. Cameron can whoop your butt and Caden will take allllll of your money. Haha!! When I told them I was making poker chips for the Toy & Game Series, the first concern Cameron had was that crocheted poker chips would be too floppy. He wasn’t wrong, so to help keep them stiff we are using a mercerized cotton with a small crochet hook.
Now let’s make a set of poker chips and have fun forever. How fun!

Isn’t this such an easy, quick crochet pattern? While we do have to make a lot of them, there are some things we can do to cut down on the crochet time. For instance, you can crochet around the beginning tail while crocheting the round 2 so that you don’t have to weave in that yarn end later. When you’re making tons of poker chips, each yarn tail adds up!
I hope your family gets plenty of fun and enjoyment from these crocheted poker chips. Good luck!

Come back on the second Friday of each month for the NEW pattern in the 2026 Toy & Game Crochet Series! I hope you love it and that your family enjoys their family poker time.
