Every time we have a large gathering and we’re not sure what to make/bring, Paul whips up some of this 7-Layer Dip and it never fails; always a hit.

Throw some jalapenos on there to really jazz things up, and if you’re wanting to make it for a football watch party, put the guac on top and use sour cream for the 10-yard lines! 😀

Crowd Favorite: 7-Layer Dip

8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
1 can Refried Beans
16 oz tub of Sour Cream
1 Taco Seasoning Packet
Guacamole
8 oz Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
1 Tomato (diced)
1/2 can Black Olives (cut in half)
1 bunch Green Onions (chopped)

We are going to go in layers, starting from the bottom up. Lay your cream cheese out to soften, while doing so, chop tomatoes, cut the black olives, shred the cheese if necessary and mix the taco seasoning in with the sour cream.

Starting with cream cheese, spread it around the bottom of your dish. Next, spread a layer of the refried beans. Grab your sour cream/taco seasoning mixture and spread that on next. If you’re doing a football theme, you can choose to do the guacamole last, otherwise go ahead and spread that on next.

Now we’ll add the cheddar cheese, then the tomato, the black olives and the green onions. Top with jalapenos if desired, and serve immediately.

Note: if you chill afterward, the cream cheese will harden, making it difficult to scoop onto the chip. Use a small dip knife if you like, but this is why we try not to re-chill after making.

  1. If you whip up the cream cheese with 1/3 cup sour cream and 1/4 cup mayonnaise, it doesn't harden when chilled and spreads easier.
