Free Star Coaster Crochet Pattern

As you may have seen, I recently designed a new pattern for a Patriotic Table Runner. I am absolutely loving the look of it, and I thought of adding stars but wondered if they would make the runner a bit too bulky. This Free Star Coaster Crochet Pattern is the perfect solution!
Lay out your Patriotic Table Runner, then throw some of the stars on top. When your guests start to arrive, they’ll simply grab a star coaster from the spread. These stars are easy and fast!
Materials:
Cotton yarn (like this)
-approx. 18 – 20 yards per star
Crochet hook in size G/4mm
Pattern notes:
The chain-1 at the beginning of the rounds does NOT count as a stitch.
Pattern written using US terms.
Tc = treble/triple crochet. Video tutorial here.
Dtr = double treble crochet stitch. To make this stitch, you’ll yarn over three times before inserting your hook, then pull through two loops at a time.

Star Coaster Pattern
Round 1: Magic circle. Ch-1, 10 hdc in circle. Join to top of first hdc. (10)
Round 2: Ch-1, 2hdc in each st around.Join to top of first hdc. (20)
Round 3: Ch-1, * hdc in next, 2hdc in next * repeat between * * around.Join to top of first hdc. (30)
Round 4: Ch-1, * hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdc in next * repeat between * * around. Join to top of first hdc.(40)
Round 5: Ch-1, * hdc in 7 sts, 2hdc in next * repeat between * * around. Join to top of first hdc. (45)
Round 6: Ch-1, * sc in next, hdc in next, dc in next, 2tc in next, 3dtr in next, 2tc in next, dc in next, hdc in next, sc in next * repeat between * * around. Join using Invisible Join. Weave in all ends.
Isn’t this just the quickest, cutest little star coaster you ever did see? I’m thinking you could also attach them with a crocheted chain to make an adorable star bunting! You could make them in red, white, and blue, or leave them solid colors and do a bunch of them.
