I’ve been itching to work with Tunisian crochet lately, and I love the way Red Heart Hygge yarn feels against my skin. This Heavenly Hygge Hat is so warm and feels great next to your face, and is perfect for winter!

Heavenly Hygge Hat Crochet Pattern

This simple Tunisian hat uses the Tunisian Knit Stitch and the Tunisian Purl Stitch. Neither of these stitches are difficult, and I have included a complete video tutorial for this entire hygge hat below. It’s easier than it looks!

The Red Heart Hygge yarn is the softest yarn I’ve found. It is a bulky weight yarn which means that it works up fast, and it will keep your noggin SUPER warm this winter! Note that if you choose to use a different bulky weight yarn, you’ll definitely want to check your gauge.

For this hat pattern I have included SEVEN sizes: Newborn, 3/6M, 6/12M, Toddler, Child, Teen, and Adult. The general construction of this hat is very similar to the Basic Back Loop Beanie, so if you’ve made one of those and you’re brand new to Tunisian crochet, this would be the PERFECT introduction! I just know you’ll love it.

You will need a Tunisian hook to complete this project. If you do not yet have a nice cabled Tunisian set, I recommend picking up an inexpensive stick hook set. For most smaller Tunisian pieces, like this one, the stick will be plenty long enough. (I’ve even made a baby blanket with my stick hook!)

  1. I’m having a hard time finding 7mm Tunisian hooks in my area (sadly). I do have a 6mm hook though. Do you happen to have measurements of the hat before sewing together so I make this?! I don’t want to use the same amount of chains that is in the pattern and it end up being too small. Thank you in advance!
    1. Hi Alexis! The finished adult size should measure approximately 20" wide and 10.5" tall before sewing. Hope this helps!
  2. I cannot find a 7mm Tunisian crochet hook on line. Can this hygge hat be made with a 6.5 or 8? I am new to Tunisian crochet and will be learning from your video. I made 3 of your hygge cowls as gifts and have been asked for matching hats.
