For the tenth cloth in the 2020 Cloth Series, we are working up cloths using the Popcorn Stitch. This stitch is a bit of yarn eater, but it makes for great sensory baby blankets, cowls, and even textured cloths as we will be making today.
Pop “O” Argyle CLOTH
All of the cloths in this 2020 cloth series are designed to be the same size. This cloth uses the Half Double Crochet stitch and the Popcorn Stitch. You can either follow along with the written pattern, or use the chart for each of the sizes as provided below, or a little of both!
Cloth sizes:
5.5″ x 5.5″ – great for a face cloth or for showering
11″ x 11″ – average washcloth size
18″ x 12″ – dish drying mat, place mat, dusting cloth etc.
Materials:
Dishie Cotton (Silver colorway pictured)
-approx. 36 yards for small
-approx. 153 yards for medium
-approx. 298 yards for large
In order to make all three of these cloths, I used about two and a half skeins of the Dishie cotton yarn.
Crochet hook in size H/5mm
Gauge: 15 sts and 11 rows = 4″ square

If you are new to reading crochet graphs, this would be a great opportunity to get acquainted! When reading these graphs, every white square is a Half Double Crochet stitch, and each red square is a Popcorn. If needed, click on each chart image to make it larger and easier to read. I made these three sizes of crochet graphs using the tips I outline in the How to Make Crochet Graph post. Cool, right? Let’s do it!
