Today is the second Friday of the second month of the year 2020 which means we are ready for the second cloth pattern in my NEW cloth series! This month we are using the Rice Stitch, a nice, textured stitch that creates super little nubs that are great for cleaning dishes, counters, and more!

Each month of 2020 I’ll post a new cloth in the series which features Dishie cotton yarn, my new favorite cotton. The cloth patterns come in three sizes, staying as consistent as possible in sizing from one month to the next. If you wish to use an acrylic yarn instead of cotton and sew them all together once we’re finished, that would make for an excellent baby blanket or throw blanket depending on which sizes you piece together!

Cloth sizes:

5.5″ x 5.5″ – great for a face cloth or for showering

11″ x 11″ – average washcloth size

18″ x 12″ – dish drying mat, place mat, dusting cloth etc.

Materials:

Dishie Cotton (Mint colorway pictured)
-approx. 37 yards for small
-approx. 143 yards for medium
-approx. 234 yards for large

In order to make all three of these cloths, I used a bit more than two skeins of the Dishie cotton yarn.

Gauge: 15 sts x 9.5 rows = 4″

Pattern Notes:

The chain at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.

We are using the Rice Stitch for these cloths. See a tutorial for the this stitch here.
