Arcade Stitch Crochet Tutorial
The Arcade stitch is great for beginners because you only need to know how to make the chain, single, and double crochet stitches. We are combining them in a way that creates little “fans” that are staggered to create a beautiful effect.

This stitch is great for anything from baby blankets, to tank tops, to washcloths. In fact, I have several patterns already that use this stitch:
Grocery Bag Holder
Eyeglasses Organizer
Perfect Parfait Tank Top

The fabric created with the Arcade Stitch would also make for great kitchen sink curtains… can you picture them? I might have to make some!

About the Arcade Stitch:
What is the multiple for this stitch pattern? For the Arcade Stitch you’ll want to start with a multiple of 6 + 2 chains. Each “arch” when made is 6 stitches wide.
Is there a row repeat? Once established, this is a four-row repeat. You’ll work those four rows in order until the piece is as tall as you like.
For this tutorial we’ll go through it row by row. Be sure to scroll down for the VIDEO tutorial. This helps particularly if you are a visual learner.
Arcade Stitch Step-by-Step:
Row 1: Chain a multiple of 6 + 2 (for example, 20 chs) Sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in next ch. Ch-3, sk-3 chs, sc in next 3 chs * repeat between * * until 5 chs remain. Ch-3, sk-3 chs, sc in each of the remaining 2 chs.

Row 2: Ch-1, turn, sc in first st. * 5dc around ch-sp, sk-1 st, sc in next, sk-1 st * repeat between * * across. 5dc around final ch-sp, sk-1 st, sc in final st.
