Did you like playing memory games as a kid? I have always loved puzzles, word games, and playing solitaire. There’s nothing like a good game of Memory, whether you’re playing with a child, with another adult, or by yourself. A quick game of memory every day will help to keep the mind sharp. Let’s make a set!

Memory Match Crochet Pattern
This pattern consists of simple crochet circles that have a spot of color on one side only. There are twenty circles total, using ten different colors.

If you want, and if you have enough yarn to make one, you can also crochet the accompanying storage bag for your memory tiles. I used the Board Game Pouch pattern which was a Toy & Game Crochet Series pattern published earlier this year and made it just a bit bigger.

Speaking of the 2026 Toy & Game Series… this is the SIXTH installment which means that we are already HALFWAY through! How is that possible?! I’ve loved all of the patterns so far…
January – Toy Net Hammock
February – Poker Chips
March – Puzzle Sorter Bowls
April – Board Game Pouches
May – Golf club covers
June’s pattern is for an easy-to-crochet memory game uses simple stitches and only two rounds. We’ll seam two circles together and tuck the yarn tails inside, meaning that we have minimal yarn ends to weave in too. My favorite type of crochet is easy crochet!

For this memory game pattern we are using My Ami yarn. This is a great yarn for durable projects and the color selection is fabulous. We do need ten different colors, but we don’t need much of each. Of course you will need enough of the main color, approx. ___ yards total. You could use scrap yarn for the circles and grab enough of one solid color for the “main color” in the pattern.

A note about yarn substitution… I chose the My Ami yarn because of the texture and the way you can not easily see through the stitches. Some other yarns, particularly cotton, can have a more rigid twist meaning that you most likely will be able to see between the stitches and potentially cheat by being able to tell what the color is on the other side. If substituting I recommend testing out the yarn choice first to see if it is see-through or not.

Let’s make some memory game tiles!
Materials:
DK/#3 Weight Yarn in 11 colors (My Ami yarn used)
-approx. 350 yards of Main Color
-approx. 4 yards per tile color (less than 2 yds per tile)
Crochet hook in size G/4mm
Gauge: unimportant
Pattern Notes:
Pattern written using US terms.
Make two of each color. I made 20 total tiles for 10 color sets.
We are using the Magic Circle to start. An alternative is to ch-4 and join to first chain made to form a circle. I find pulling the Magic Circle nice and tight in this pattern helps to hide the color.
Abbreviations:
Ch(s): Chains
Sl st: Slip stitch
St(s): Stitches
Dc: Double Crochet
