If you’re like me and shop online for your prescription eyeglasses, I’m going to guess that you’ve got a small collection of cute, quirky, or practical eyeglasses. If yours are also scattered all over the house like mine, get organized with me using this new, free crochet pattern for an Eyeglasses Organizer. A hanging organizer for sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses that you can make using scrap yarn. Awesome!

Hanging Eyeglasses Organizer
I’ve been shopping on Zenni for years and I always choose the cheaper glasses because I’ve always found the quality to be sufficient and I like to have a wide selection to go with either my outfit or to match my mood. Over the years my prescription has not changed so I’ve accumulated quite the collection.

These six are my favorites between regular glasses and sunglasses, and having them all in one place where I KNOW they are hanging is going to be a life saver. I can’t count how many times I’ve had to run back in the house because I thought a certain pair were in the car. As long as I’m consistent on always replacing them in the hanger, I’ll always know where they are. Sweet!
For this pattern we are using a worsted weight cotton called Craft Cotton with a 4.5mm crochet hook. This is such a soft cotton and the color selection is fabulous. You don’t need much either! Just about 70 yards for the hanger as shown.
If you’re super short on yardage you could do the even quicker method I outline below. Scroll down to find the strip version of this hanger that is just THREE rows total!

This would also be a great seller at craft fairs, I’m sure! Hang some dollar store glasses on it to demonstrate and I bet they’ll be flying off the shelves. Let’s make some!

Pattern Notes:
Pattern written using US terms.
For this pattern we are using the Arcade Stitch. This consists of single crochets, chains, and double crochets.
This pattern will comfortably hold 6 pairs of eyeglasses.
If you wish to adjust the sizing of the hanger, you can either make it longer by continuing to add rows until it holds as many glasses as needed, or you could adjust the width by adding stitches in multiples of six.

Rows 6 through 23 (or to desired length): repeat rows 2 through 5
When finished, do not fasten off. Rotate, evenly sc up row ends, across row 1 and down the other side. Weave in all ends.

Hanger:
Attach at top right (top left if left-handed) with a slip stitch. Ch-1, sc across going around the dowel rod to secure it. When you get to the end, ch-40 and slip stitch to first sc of the row. Fasten off and weave in those ends.

If you would like to do the longer, strip version, here’s what I did:
Single Strip:
Row 1: Ch-63, dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each across. (61)
Row 2: Ch-1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, ch-3, sk-3 sts, * sc in next 3 sts, ch-3, sk-3 sts * repeat between * * until only two sts remain, sc in each. (10 ch-sps)
Row 3: Ch-1, turn, sc in first st, * sk-next st, 5dc around ch-sp, sk-next st, sc in next st * repeat between * * to end. (10 “arcades”)
Fasten off and weave in all ends. That’s it! How simple and fun?!
