I’ve been wanting to make a pair of crocheted slippers for a while now, and I finally got the chance to sit down and design a pair. I hope you enjoy this free Ballet Slippers crochet pattern!

For this pattern we use around 100 – 120 yards of worsted weight/size 4/Aran yarn and a D/3.25mm hook. These ballet slippers work up quickly so grab your hook and let’s get started!

i’m making these for a bunch of my family members for the holidays because i love the pair i made for myself! i used lily sugar‘n cream cotton yarn for them and they’re so comfy
These turned out so cute!!! I added an ankle strap.
Wonderful! I am glad you enjoyed the pattern and the ankle strap is a cute idea!
Fantastic pattern! Truly. I am so impressed with your instructions and accompanying photos. Very rewarding and beautiful pattern. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you these are great, my daughter sent me the pic of them and wants them .I said nope lol I just made her 3 pairs for Christmas..pattern is easy to follow luv them…
I can’t find the “video below”. Can you share it here?
My little sister sent me a picture of this pattern via facebook page, I hope by measuring the length of her foot and subtracting an inch in lengh of the slipper they will fit her before Christmas! We live in different state, so she can’t try them on as I make them. Thank you
I have been making this pattern for a year it’s easy and fast I love it thank you so very much
I am so glad you have been enjoying the pattern!
Is there a gauge for this pattern? I finished the toe but it seems too small. Love the slippers. I can’t wait to get them finished.
Why break up the pattern?
Finally got brave enough to try this! Came out so cute and worked up quick. Now I just need to make another one to have a pair ;).
Wonderful! I am so glad you enjoyed the pattern!
Is there any way to make these more comfortable to wear? The stitches are super uncomfortable on the balls of my feet. Maybe a single crochet instead of double? Do you have any idea what the pattern for a single crochet would be? Or a different, foot friendly (lol) stitch?
How to make different size?
Unbelievably simple to follow with a lovely result. Thank you for this well thought out pattern.
I just finished making these slippers. They were super easy and fast to work up. I love them! Thank you so much for a great pattern.
Can you get a printed pattern
Can I get a printed pattern for the ballet slippers?
Hi! An ad-free printable pdf of the pattern can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry =)
Thank you….I can’t seem to pull the pattern up
I love this!! My husband wanted some house slippers to wear in the garage, so I whipped these up, and they were perfect. I used a size 5 mm hook, and they fit him (American size 13 men’s shoe) just right. Thank you!

Is there a written pattern for the ballerina slippers
I have made 2 pairs of the ballet slippers as gifts. This is a great and easy pattern. They fit perfectly and the pattern was easy to follow!
Wonderful! I am so glad you enjoy the pattern!
Your information is of great quality, thanks for sharing. 6140573
I just found this fantastic pattern. I love it. I started to make a pair for myself but a friend saw it and you know what happened then. As I was finishing them her niece saw them and wanted a pair. Finally got to make some for me. Thank You for such a great pattern.
Super comfy and pleasant to wear! These were such a quick fun project. Used merino wool, 5-bulky, so I ended up using an “I” hook and then the regular pattern, and they came out just great! The only minor issue is that one somehow came out just slightly looser than the other. I may have to gather the ankle to “take it in.” We’ll see.
Thank you for making this available, and for free!
My daughter in law has been a dancer her entire life, so when I saw these I knew I had to include them in her Christmas package. My question is what type of yarn works best – Acrylic? At first I was thinking a cheap yarn like RHSS would be good because it seems more durable than a softer yarn, but using a small hook might make them stiff and uncomfortable. Any suggestions?
As a beginner, I found this slipper to be easy to make and beautiful. Absolutely love it! Thank you for posting the instructional video too!
Hi Lesley! I am glad you enjoyed the pattern!
I absolutely love this pattern. Perfectly written. Easy & works up quick plus super cute! I thought I seen some where about a children’s size matching pattern but now can not seem to findmommy’s. 3 year old daughter wants a pair like mommys.
I am so glad you enjoy the pattern. The kids size can be found here: https://hearthookhome.com/chunky-ballet-slippers-and-kids-slippers-crochet-pattern/
I want the adult and the kids sizes.
Loved this pattern!! It worked up fast, I got a pair done in about 4 hours and I would rate myself as an advanced beginner. They fit my feet perfectly. I love your patterns, and I really appreciate the youtube videos that accompany them because I am a visual learner. Thanks for another great pattern!!
I am so glad you are enjoying the pattern!!
These are so cute! I used “I Love This Yarn” sunset with a 3.5mm hook. and they are perfect for my 9.5 size feet. Just added extra rows.
I just made a pair, with a few pull backs and redos . Normal, for me with a new pattern. Now I’m giving them a test run to see how well they stay on as I have narrow heels. I really like the pattern and will make more. Thank you.
Mine turned out great! I wear a size 7.5-8 shoe, used a size 4 weighted yarn and a 3.75 hook. I knew my hook size was a tad larger than what the pattern called for but I kept my tension tight and they turned out so cute!!!
I am so glad you like them!
I used a 5mm hook for this pattern and it came out as a child’s size 10 what on earth did I do wrong if this is supposed to be an adult sized slipper
If using aran yarn its thicker, plus add more rows like it suggested before doing row 19. I added one extra row, and it fits me, size uk5.
Nice pattern. Thanks for sharing. I am going to look for something other than sock stop it’s costly and out of stock. Do you have any other ideas? I want to make some for my sister in the nursing home.
I use a hot glue gun and add dots on the bottom and flatten them whilst still warm. Works for all of us. Washing no problem in cold water. Just do not use a drier, could get messy.
I get the Tulip Puffy Paint to put dots on the bottom. Just let them dry and then steam them and the puff up and make a non stick slipper. I did this for my mother who has severe MS.
As everyone else ❤ this pattern!!
Do you have and easy pattern for men I don’t think mine would like the design in front lol
THANKS
DEB
Hi Debbie! I have a mens pattern which can be found here: https://hearthookhome.com/mens-slippers-crochet-pattern/
I have a cousin size 6 an and Adult, where do I stop so it’s not to long… I got the bigger sizes down but not the smaller adult or kids
You will repeat row 18 until the slipper length is just shy of 8 inches.
I’ve made a few pair of these slippers. Would love to make some for my granddaughter! Looking for the kids pattern. Thanks for your talent!
Hi Leigh! If you haven’t found it yet, the child size can be found in with the chunky slippers here: https://hearthookhome.com/chunky-ballet-slippers-and-kids-slippers-crochet-pattern/
I’m loving the pattern but I have wide feet. When I place my feet in the slipper , my double stitches spread out so they don’t look like yours, any suggestions for people who need a wide width?
Thanks you the pattern.
I made my slippers using Peaches & Creme which is 100 % cotton.
I had the same problem, I just made them wider by adding more stitches in the third row. Instead of one stitch in the first stitch, two stitches in the second stitch, etc. I did two stitches in all of them. I did have to change the top slightly to get the right look but that wasn’t two hard either, I just made that wider too and then you have the choice of also making it longer or having it be a trapezoidal instead of a triangle.
Hope this helps!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PATTERN!!! Thank you!
Awww…I’m so glad you like it!
Do you allow people to sell these (Etsy for example), as long as you’re credited as a designer?
Absolutely! =)
I’m trying to make these as they look great. I’m having trouble with the seam though. In the toe part my seam (where you join to the end of each row) is running diagonally across the top of the foot. The pictures and video look like it’s running down the side. I have re-started several times and I’m sure I’m following the video exactly but I can’t work our why my seam is running diagonally when your one runs straight. Do you have any ideas what I might be doing wrong, please?
Same thing happens to me! Must be to do with how we start a new row? Looks good in the end regardless. Love this pattern.
Hmmm…starting the rows a bit differently than I do could be the problem…have you tried watching the video to see if there is something I am doing different?
Maybe you’re accidentally using the chain two as a stitch? Or the opposite, maybe you’re accidentally skipping one stitch to many, thinking it’s the chain two when it’s actually the first stitch? I forgot to skip the chain two too the first time I tried to make these.
