  1. I absolutely love these!! I am still very much a beginner so I was surprised and delighted at finding a pattern that was simple enough for my skill level but comes out looking like a much more advanced project. Thank you!! Do you have a pattern for something similar that could be made using 2 or 3 different colors of yarn, or do you think there's a way to introduce a second color in this pattern?
    1. Hi Tracy! I have a chunky version in which you could use 2-3 strands of yarn here: http://hearthookhome.com/chunky-ballet-slippers-and-kids-slippers-crochet-pattern/ Or, I have a tutorial on how to change colors in crochet here: http://hearthookhome.com/how-to-change-colors-in-crochet/ Hope that helps!
  2. This is the clearest tutorial I have ever watched. Thanks so much for making these slippers so enjoyable to make. I have one done and I'm working on the second. Can't wait to have the pair finished!
  3. The make and do crew website has a template and directions for non-slip soles. I got a cheap leather jacket from the thrift store and cut them out of that. They work great!! Can't wait to use them on your ballet slippers.
  4. Thank you so much for this beautiful crochet slipper pattern. I love the design and how feminine they look on your feet. I loved the video tutorial as I have a difficult time reading patterns unless I see a video first. I can’t wait to make my first pair.
      1. Thanks, I was gonna ask the same question, I have BIG feet! The best part of this pattern is the lovely detail of the chain rows. For the wider size, would we do the first ten rows using the men's pattern, at row 10 switch over to the women's pattern for the chain rows, and then switch back to the men's pattern at row 14? Thanks again for a wonderfully written pattern!
        1. Hi Annie! I would suggest doing a combination of the men's version and the women's chunky version. Start out in men's version for 1st 5 rounds, then continue on with the women's chunky version...you'll just want to be sure to add 4 to your DC count from Round 6 on. So, where it says 13 DC, you would do 17. The chunky version can be found here: http://hearthookhome.com/chunky-ballet-slippers-and-kids-slippers-crochet-pattern/ I hope that makes sense!
  5. I LOVE this pattern Ashlea! Thank you so much for the pattern as well as the tutorial...I've made two pair so far. They are so pretty and comfortable to wear. I used a 4 weight acrylic and they wash and dry well. I have a lot of leftover yarn from various projects and now I have a use for it...many, many pairs of ballet slippers! Thank you!
  6. These are wonderful! I made a pair this morning for my daughter and will be making a pair for myself later this weekend. Your pattern is perfect and well written. Thank you!
  7. Hi, I love this pattern. I have tried making it, but for some reason lose a stitch every row when I get to the chaining for design. It wanted me to make my 21st stitch in the area with the chain. Am I supposed to do that? I studied your pictures and video and don’t know what is going wrong. I feel that the beginning might be over too far, but I make sure to put the stitch in the first stitch and not the chain. (The Stitch is after the column that you create right?) thank you!
    1. Hi Kayla! I'm sorry your having trouble! No, your 21st stitch should not go into the chain area...and your 1st stitch of the round should be placed in the same stitch as your join. Without seeing it, it is difficult to "diagnose" what is going wrong...if you're still having trouble, maybe you could send me a pic through the facebook page or email and we can try to get this figured out.
      1. Thank you! I ended up getting it to work! Now my next question is that I have a high arch, so the 25 isn’t tall enough. How do I make it come up taller on the sides and heel?
  8. Hi Ashlea, thank you so much for the slipper pattern. Over the years I have tried others but always been disappointed. These are lovely and so easy to make. I love them. How can I make them not feel so wide though, the length is perfect. Thank you so much.
    1. I used worsted weight yarn and a 3.25 hook but the sole area seems lose. Love how easy and fast these are to make. Thank you.
    2. Hi Anne! I'm so glad you love this pattern! You could try eliminating a couple of increases in Round 3...so instead of finishing the round with 30 stitches, you finish with 28. Or, you could eliminate the increase in Row 17...so you would complete the sole of your slipper with 23 stitches instead of 25. Hope this helps!
      1. Thank you so much for your reply Ashlea. I omitted rows 8 and 9 in the second slipper and it fits. I then changed the first slipper. I love these slippers and you make following the pattern so easy. Honestly I have tried slippers so many times and given up as way too big and slip off at the heel too. I will try another pair with your tip. Thanks again. Have a happy Easter.
  9. I just love this pattern ! since it has been posted I think I've made like 20 pairs and they are so easy to adjust in size ...... thank yoy for keeping it simple and beautiful .....regards from Norway
  10. I absolutely LOVE these slippers! Thank you so much for the tutorial as well as the written pattern. Both were so helpful! I truly enjoyed making them...I've never worked with such a small crochet hook though, so that was an experience!
  11. Adorable slipper pattern. Just finished the first pair! Fast and extremely easy to follow! Thanks so much fir sharing it!!
  12. When you are adding extra rows to fit a larger foot, do you continue to increase the stitch count for every other row or do you stay with the 25 dc until you get to the length you need?
    1. Hi Kailan! You should be fine to continue with the 25 stitches. However, you might want to slip it on once you finish the edging around top opening; and if it feels like it sits lower on the sides of your foot than is comfortable, then you can absolutely add in another increase row to 27 stitches. Hope this helps!
  13. Hi, I have a question. How would I change the pattern to fit as size 4/5? Thank you for posting these slippers they are so cute
  14. How do i make the majic circle ? I am pretty new at this craft i started making the granny square now i am working onthe solid granny square i love these slippers i am thinking Christmas but i need to learn the circle the video doesnt really sho the circle and looked for the site but couldnt find it . So can you help me out ?
    1. Hi Patsy! I have a tutorial for the magic circle here: http://hearthookhome.com/make-magic-circle-crocheting-round/
  15. OMG. These slippers are fabulous ! I am already making my second pair. I have been looking for cute crochet slippers for months. Most are chuncky, and something my grandmother would have made. Your pattern has a modern flare and unbelievably easy to follow. Thanks again for sharing your talent. Karen
  16. I have a question about round 10 and 12 regarding the beginning of each round. At the begining of each round I chain 2 and on round 10 it says I should chain 4 then slip stitch to the top. Should I count the first two chains or increase the chains to match the end of the rounds? Example round 11 states start with 2 chains and end with 4 chains? Thank you and I love these slippers.
    1. Laurie, the chain 2 at the beginning of each round is just to bring your working yarn up to a height to work your 1st double crochet...the beginning chain 2 should not be counted in any rounds of this pattern. Hope this helps!

  18. These slippers are soooo cute, & unique! So easy to work up, too! I just finished my first, now onto the second! I'll leave pics on Ravelry! Thanks so much for sharing your pattern! :)
  19. Love this pattern! I’m a size 6 shoe, so I ended up basically skipping rows 8 and 9 (going from row 7 to row 10 in the pattern) and working the rest as written, and that worked really well for my little feet! I’m going to be making these in so many different colors.
  20. Você é uma artista! Vou pedir a meu sobrinho para traduzir a receita! Fiquei apaixonada! Parabéns!
  21. Thanks for the free pattern!! Your pattern was easy to follow...which isn't often the case. My husband wants some now. I just noticed you have a man's slipper pattern. I'll be making those next! Take care!
  22. I really want to make these but how would you suggest making them bigger. I need sizes 11-13. Are there any adjustment that can be made to the existing pattern or where would be the best places to add rows? Thanks.....these are soooo cute!
    1. If you keep repeating row 18 until you end about an inch from the back of your heal, you can increase the size on this pattern. once you get to an inch from your heal, you should be able to finish with the pattern for row 19
  23. Just an idea, to make them non slip grip for kids or for the elderly , I heard of putting the paint that puffs up when painting on t-shirts. Or you can cut out the size of the slipper from the non slip grip mats that you can find at the hardwear store, Walmart or even the dollar store would carry such mats. Then when you have the right size you hand stitch it to the bottom of the slipper
  24. I just finished my first pair and love them! I have decided to make these as gifts for all the important ladies in my life! Thank you for such an easy pattern. I also really appreciate that you said what stitch to seam with as that is often a struggle to me as I am new to any project that isn't a blanket :)
  25. I'm so excited that I'm actually making these slippers! However, I'm starting row 15 and am a bit confused. Up to this point the back of the stitches are inside the slipper. When I begin row 15, the back of the stitches will be on the outside.

    1. This is the chunky version: http://hearthookhome.com/chunky-ballet-slippers-and-kids-slippers-crochet-pattern/
  27. The link to this tutorial actually showed up on a crochet page on Facebook(Crochet Addict). This was my first attempt at crocheting slippers. I saw the picture and I thought they were so cute that I needed to try them. I completed 1 slipper in one sitting. I still can't believe how easy it was. Thanks so much for well written and easy to follow directions, embedded video for the magic circle and the pictures showing the steps. Not to start on the second one :)
  28. Hey Ashlea, I was also wondering about a 5-6 size? I have narrow feet but I can’t wait to make these! Are all the sizes in the ad free version? Thanks a bunch for the inspiration :)
    1. I would make the child size (the chunky version with worsted weight) and lengthen it as needed. I will get the pdf updated and on Ravelry.
      1. Hey Ashlea, I just made these yesterday and actually used a 3.5 since apparently both of my look sets dont include a 3.25. They turned out perfect. Apparently my feet arent that narrow haha I love these. I will be making so many pairs of these. Also will be trying out your newest pattern for slippers. Just wanted to let you know it all worked out.
  29. I’ve started the pattern with Aran yarn and a 3.5mm crochet hook and the slipper is turning out tiny!? Wouldn’t even fit my 9 year old neice? Am I doing something wrong? The Aran yarn recommends using a 5mm crochet hook but your instructions say a 3.25? Help!
    1. Don't worry.... these STRETCH so if they're small on the first fitting, they'll be nice and snug in an hour
    1. Diana, you could also try using a 3.5. (I didnt have a 3.25) I needed the same size. They worked out great for me.
  30. Hi! I love them! Do you find they hurt the bottoms of your feet to walk on? The last pair of ballet slippers with a 4 weight really do.
    1. This is why Idon't make slippers. The knots hurt my feet. Wondering what changes could be made to use sock weight yarn.
      1. That's a good idea. Some have mentioned an insert too, although the pattern would have to adjusted to fit something else inside i'd imagine?
  31. I was patiently (not) waiting for this pattern to show up on your site after you gave us the teaser the other day on FB. Thank you again for all that you do for our community.
  32. Hi, I like your live sessions very much. Your designs are great and easy to follow. Loving your professor cardigan xx and slippers
  33. This is the most beautiful crochet sandal I have ever seen. Am gonna make one pair for myself. Thanks a lot for sharing your all wonderful patterns. You are very talented.
