Carl the Candy Corn: Free Crochet Pattern

Candy Corn: either you love it or you hate it. But THIS little Candy Corn named Carl is sure to bring smiles to all who meet him. Grab your yarn and hook and let’s make an adorable little Candy Corn crochet plushie.
Candy Corn Crochet Pattern
This little Candy Corn crochet pattern works up in no time flat. With just scraps of yellow, orange, and white yarn, we’ll add an adorable little face and appendages, and he’ll be ready to adventure!
Just chillin’ with my homies! Ha!
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in Yellow, Orange, and White (scraps should suffice)
Crochet hook in size 5 mm
(2) 5mm safety eyes
Black thread or embroidery floss
(1) stitch marker
Small bit of Polyfil or other yarn scraps
Pattern Notes:
Pattern written using US terms.
Always work in a spiral throughout the pattern, marking the first stitch of each round with the stitch marker.

Finished Dimensions: approx. 2.75″ (7 cm) tall x 2.25″ wide (5.5 cm)

Pattern:
Using Yellow yarn…
Round 1: Ch-6, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 3 sts, 5sc in next. Turn to work up the opposite side of the chain. Sc in next 3 sts, 3sc in last. Do not join, work in a spiral throughout, using a stitch marker to note first stitch of each round. (16)
Round 2: 2sc in next, sc in next 5 sts, 2sc in next, sc in next, 2sc in next, sc in next 5 sts, 2sc in next, sc in next. (20)
Rounds 3 – 5: sc in each st around. (20)
Change to Orange yarn…
Round 6: repeat round 3 (20)
Round 7: * inv dec, sc in next 8 sts * repeat between * * one more time. (18)
Round 8: repeat round 3 (18)
Round 9: * inv dec, sc in next 7 sts * repeat between * * one more time. (16)
Add safety eyes between rows 7 & 8, about 5 sts apart.
Change to White yarn…
Round 10: repeat round 3 (16)
Round 11: * inv dec, sc in next 6 sts, repeat between * * one more time. (14)
Round 12: repeat round 3 (14)
Round 13: * inv dec, sc in next 5 sts * repeat between * * one more time. (12)
Fill the bottom with beans, corn, or rice to weight it. Top off with Polyfil stuffing.
Round 14: inv dec 6x around. (6)
Fasten off and sew hole shut.
Arms:
Using Orange yarn, make two…
Row 1: Fsc-7 (or ch-8, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each to end)
Fasten off leaving long enough tail to sew to body.
Legs:
Using Yellow yarn, make two…
Row 1: Fsc-5 (or ch-6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each to end)
Fasten off leaving long enough tail to sew to body.
Sew arms and legs to body. I placed the legs toward the front of his body (instead of on the flat bottom) so that he could sit up straight. The arms are opposite each other on the second row of the orange portion.
Using thick black thread or embroidery floss, add a Kawaii mouth. Here’s a video tutorial if you need it:
