Cold Shoulder Swimsuit Cover Up Crochet Pattern

Every once in a while I design a crochet pattern that I just can’t get enough of. When the stars align, both the inspiration and the yarn is running freely though my fingers. This would be one of those patterns.  ♥

I so wish you could have seen me at any point during the last 48 hours.  My husband was practically throwing food in my mouth as he walked by my crochet chair and I should have invested in one of those helmet drink holders with straws… just think of how much more work I could have accomplished! Although I did get three swimsuit cover ups and sweaters made – so there’s that.

Cold Shoulder Swimsuit Cover Up Crochet Pattern - Customizable!

Swimsuit Cover Up with Cold Shoulder

I made one cold shoulder swimsuit cover up in white cotton that is absolutely perfect for heading to the pool or the beach with it’s mid-thigh length.

The black I made a few inches shorter to wear with leggings or capris this summer and into the fall. My 8 year old took these last two of the black and I just had to share. For future reference, anytime you see one hand behind my ear, that’s the work of my future fashion photographer right there. 😉

Cold Shoulder Sweater or Pullover Crochet Pattern

I strive to create my crochet patterns so that any body size can crochet/use/wear the finished product. Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous about the sizing of this particular pattern, but I am happy to say that my first tester made a size 10, the second tester made a size 1x and the third tester made a size 2x.  ALL of my testers and myself were able to replicate the pattern perfectly based on each individual’s body shape!  *high five*

Here’s Ashley modeling the plus size version. Isn’t she FAB?!

  5. Before I purchase this pattern, I was wondering if it had a gauge pattern before I begin? Also, I've lost a lot of weight and wear a size 6 so I'm wondering if this will be too big for me? I've never made a garment before (only a sweater for a cat lol) would this pattern be considered easy or intermediate?

  7. Getting ready to start this cover-up and have a few questions. I'm using Caron Simply soft , and it calls for an H hook. You used an I with yours. Much difference in these 2 yarns? What is your pattern gauge ? I crochet kinda tight . Want to get this right, but I am still not very learned on gauge and such.
  8. Hi Ashley, I've been working on your Cold Shoulder Coverup. I have the pieces done, but I'm having a problem envisioning how they go together. Is there a video that shows this? Any ideas? Unfortunately, the pictures in the pattern are just not doing it for me. I don't usually have a problem, but this one is really bugging me. Thanks, Linda

  10. Please help! I've started the top twice now and each time my foundation sc chain has measured my measurements plus 4 inches as stated but by the time I've finished the first row of hdc it has grown by another 3 inches!! Is this correct?
    1. Hi Gemma, it should be a bit big, but I'm wondering if your fsc row is tighter than the regular rows? That would make it balloon out. You might watch this video on the fhdc, in it I talk about how to keep it from being too tight. Let me know if that helps! http://hearthookhome.com/crochet-foundation-half-double-crochet/
