I am SO excited to share that the child sizes of the Color Block sweater pattern are ready! The sizes range from 2/3T to 10/12 youth, and as always, the child sizes of this pattern are free. Grab your hook and let’s whip one up for you and your mini me! ♥

Child Sizes of the Color Block Sweater

The child sizes of the Color Block sweater are smaller versions of the adult size Color Block sweater.

This pattern is the first of many new designs in 2022 and it has been well loved! I am so excited to see what all comes off of our hooks this year.

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written using US terms.

The sc/ch rows are “right side”.

In the sc/ch rows, always place your scs in the chains from the previous/hdc2tog row.

In the hdc2tog rows, always make those stitches in the scs from the previous row.

Use the join as the first and last stitch to work your first and final hdc2tog of those rows.

In pattern, “sets” = hdc2tog + ch-1 (two sts = 1 “set” — this is just quicker to count)

Watch the video tutorial for the “small triangles” stitch here. There will be a VIDEO tutorial using the 2/3T size added to this post ASAP!

  2. Ashlea, I have started this pattern and with the xlarge and I get the same amount of stitches you say. But on the 3rd row, I think I'm doing it correctly, but I get a lot more than 64 sets of the hdc2tog. I've tried 4 times and can't make it work. :( Maybe I'm not counting the correct sets. Any help will be appreciated! Thanking you in advance, Bunzie
    1. Hmmm...have you watched the video? You can always send a photo of what you've got to support@hearthookhome.com and we can try to get it figured out for you.

  3. Thank you Ashley for this free pattern for childrens sweaters. I have many great-grandchildren in the New England states, and they all love the sweater patterns I've made them to keep them warm. I know they'll love this pattern also. Thank you so much for your talent, and generosity in giving out free patterns, and coupons for the paid patterns. God will bless you for your kindness.
