Do you have an elephant lover in your life? If so, you’ll want to whip up a giant version of my Webster the Elephant bookmark pattern! I decided to alter this pattern to make it into an elephant pillow to give as a gift to friends of ours that are expecting their first child. What a sweet little (BIG) gift for baby!
Elephant Pillow Pattern
The original Webster is quite small – about the size of a tennis ball. This elephant pillow, however, is a whopping 34″ in circumference! His “wing span” (ear to ear) is about 22″ across and he is about 10″ tall.
I think he will be perfect for my friend’s nursery! ♥
Materials:
Crochet hook in size 15mm
Stitch marker
Gray blanket yarn – approx. 400 yards
Black worsted weight yarn (just enough for eyes)
Crochet hook in size G/4mm (for eyes)
Upholstery needle
Polyfill
Pattern Notes:
Work in a spiral, do NOT join at the end of each round.
Use your stitch marker to note the beginning stitch of each row.
Use Invisible Decrease for prettier sc2tog (see video tutorial)
We are triple stranding the yarn for this project. If you want him to be more of a soccer ball size, just use two strands and a 12mm hook.
Remember that you want to use Invisible Decrease for the sc2tog (decreases). It helps to create a prettier, smoother transition in amigurumi. See more tips for beautiful amigurumi.
