I’ve been wanting to design with Tunisian crochet for a while now, and I am SO excited to introduce you to my newest design: the Timeless Tunisian Tunic!

Timeless Tunisian Tunic

I decided to name it “timeless” because women of all ages will love this one-size tunic. I’ve already had requests for a child size, so I have that on my to-do list as well!

Timeless Tunisian Tunic

I adore how flowy this tunic is. By seaming the sides for only a few inches, we customize the width per our body type. You can also choose not to seam the sides at all! Of course then you’d have a poncho. 😉

Materials:

Lightweight/Size 3/DK yarn (yarn pictured in “tide pool”)
-approx 1450 yards
8mm extended Tunisian crochet hook (like this)
6mm crochet hook

Stitches used:

Tunisian Simple Stitch Crochet
Single Crochet

As written the pattern goes up to about 3XL. This pattern is easily customized to a larger or smaller size, and instructions are included both for larger and tall sizes.

Finding crochet patterns for wearable items in Tunisian crochet can be quite difficult. With this design, we get to fall in love with Tunisian crochet while creating a beautiful, flowy tunic.

Get the printable pattern on Ravelry, Etsy, or in the Heart Hook Home shop.

Pin it for later here.

Tunisian Simple Crochet is much easier than it looks. The trick to this pattern (and all Tunisian, in my opinion) is tension. Keep it loose, and always go up at least two hook sizes from “normal” crochet. This tunic is soft and squishy, it has a gorgeous drape, and provides coverage while maintaining a loose, comfortable fit.  I hope you love it as much as I loved creating it!

  1. Do you think it would be possible to add kinda loose flowy long sleeves to this? I like the look of it a lot, but I think I would want sleeves! =)
    1. Hi Shindria! I think that would detract from the overall look of the tunic...I personally wouldn't do it.
  2. Ashlea the cold shoulder swim suit cover up pattern u have. What type of yarn do you use? I’ve seen cotton, worsted weight? Thx for ur time.
    1. Hi Tina! You can use any worsted weight yarn for that pattern. I used cotton for the swimsuit coverup due to its absorbency which is ideal for being poolside or at the beach...but you can use whatever you like as long as it's a 4 weight. Hope that helps!
  3. I have never tried tunisian crochet , looks a simple pattern, is it possible to use a longer hook that is not an extended one? Thanks
    1. Hi Anne! You can try it with a longer hook, however since we are casting on so many stitches, there will be significant bunching of stitches on your hook which could make it a little more difficult.
