Are you the type of person that puts your pots and pans in the dishwasher, or do you wash them by hand? I recently purchsed a brand new pots and pans set and I have been super diligent about only washing them by hand. My scrubby sponges are nice, but this free pot scrubber crochet pattern is even better!
Free Pot Scrubber Crochet Pattern
I am so glad you have enjoyed this journey of crocheting for the home this year! Now for the final installment of this series we are finishing off with a SUPER quick make that is very much needed in my home: a pot scrubber!
This Pot Scrubber is double sided and squishy. It fits right in the palm of your hand and since it is stuffed – with tulle! – it’s easier to hold onto while you’re scrubbing the dishes. Great if you have arthritis too.
We are using tulle inside to puff up the design, and since it’s a material like this (instead of traditional stuffing) if will hold its shape and you can even throw them in the washer when needed! I love that!
Scrubby store bought sponges are nice for cleaning pots and pans, but this free pot scrubber crochet pattern is perfect!
You can either buy tulle on the roll (like you would ribbon for crafting) or you can buy it from the bolt at the fabric counter. You sure don’t need much!
-one skein will make MANY scrubbers!
100% Cotton yarn
-any cotton will work, and you don’t need much!
Crochet hook in size J/6mm
Crochet in size G/4mm
Tulle (either on the roll, or off the bolt at the fabric counter)
-if you purchase off the bolt you’ll only need about 1/4 yard for several scrubbers!
Pattern written using US terms.
This is a two-sided scrubber pattern. We will crochet two circles, then crochet around them going through both fabrics.. We will stuff the tulle inside and complete the scrubber. So quick and easy!
Using the Scrubby yarn, with J/6mm hook, make one:
Round 1: Magic Circle. Ch-1, hdc 8x in circle. Join. (8)
Round 2: Ch-1, 2hdc in each st around. Join. (16)
Round 3: Ch-1, * hdc in next st, 2hdc in next * repeat between * * around. Join. (24)
Fasten off using Invisible Join. No need to weave in ends super securely.
Using the 100% Cotton yarn, with G/4mm hook, make one:
Round 1: Magic Circle. Ch-1, hdc 12x in circle. Join. (12)
Round 2: Ch-1, 2hdc in each st around. Join. (24)
Round 3: Ch-1, * hdc in next st, 2hdc in next * repeat between * * around. Join. (36)
Round 4: Ch-1, * hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdc in next * repeat between * * around. Join. (48)
Do not fasten off.
Line up “wrong sides” together.
Using the G/4mm hook and cotton yarn, ch-1 and turn so that you are looking at the scrubby side.
Sc through both fabrics all around, going through the third loop only on the scrubby yarn as pictured, and placing two cotton stitches per one scrubby stitch.
When you get about 2/3 of the way around, stop to fill with tulle. Use a ~3″ strip of tulle and just stuff it in. Continue crocheting shut and weave in all ends. Voila!
I am so sad to see the 2021 Household Crochet Series come to an end, but I am SUPER excited for 2022! We are going to whip up 12 different things that are useful for your CAR! I am SO excited about that, and to show you all that I have in mind. Stay tuned, we’ll continue the schedule of the second Friday of each month going forward. 🤩
