Are you in need of a new set of accessories this fall? How about a matching beanie, mittens, and cowl? If you said “yes” to any of the above… boy do I have a fun new Tunisian crochet pattern for you! The “Smock It To Me” set is absolute perfection, and I know you’ll love whipping them up, too!
Tunisian Smock Set
The “Smock it to Me” set is worked with two contrasting colors. For the tan and colorful beanie pictured here (the one I make in the companion VIDEO tutorial below) I used Snuggle Puff in “Fawn” and Muse Hand Painted in “Possibility”. Just one ball of each will suffice!
These colors compliment each other so nicely! For the main images (the green and grey) I used Brava worsted for the beanie and mittens, and Brava bulky for the cowl and infinity scarf. The colorways used are some of my favorites, “Avocado” and the lovely “Cobblestone Heather”.
In order to make this set, you will need to know how to crochet the Tunisian Smock Stitch. We will also be working in the round (here’s a tutorial specifically for that!), which means that you will need double ended crochet hooks.
This is a great beginner project for working Tunisian in the round. Once you get your first project completed, your confidence will shoot through the roof and you’ll be ready to crochet ALL the things in the round! It really is so much easier than it seems, so jump in feet first with me.
Because this is a bit more technical than traditional Tunisian crochet, I will be recording a full video tutorial in which I will crochet the beanie. Look for that video to be added to the pattern post soon! (If you are an email subscriber, I’ll alert you via email when that is added. Sign up below!)
Materials:
As stated above, I am using Brava Worsted for the Beanie and Mittens, and Brava Bulky for the Cowl and Infinity Scarf. You will also need a skein of the Fable Fur if you plan to add that to the top and bottom of your cowl or scarf.
Note that the hook sizes needed are 8mm for the patterns using bulky yarn, and 6mm for the patterns using the worsted weight yarn. If you are new to Tunisian in the round and do not yet have double ended hooks in those sizes, you could opt for this set that has SIX double ended hooks in sizes ranging from 6.5mm to 12mm. If you do this go ahead and use the 6.5mm for the beanie and mittens instead of the 6mm as I have used. They will turn out slightly larger than mine, but the half a hook size won’t make a big enough difference to ruin the outcome.
