Easiest Crochet Washcloth
This washcloth is a great project for a beginner crocheter. Using just one stitch that is easy to learn and has a video tutorial, this would be an excellent way for the novice crocheter to practice consistency and tension while also producing something useful.

Making something simple and useful not only helps you to master new techniques but to benefit from the fruits of your labor for years to come. I absolutely love that about crochet!
If you’re not a beginner crocheter, but need something to get your cro-jo back, this would also be a great quick pattern to do just that! Let’s whip one (or several) up!

Materials:
100% cotton yarn (Dishie cotton in Swan, Silver, and Honeydew pictured)
-approx. 65 yards per washcloth
Crochet hook in size H/5mm
Gauge:
Unimportant, but 14 sts x 9 rows = 4″ square
Pattern Notes:
Pattern written using US terms.
The turning chain at the beginning of the row does NOT count as a stitch.
We are using the Extended Half Double Crochet stitch for this pattern. See the VIDEO tutorial for this stitch here.
If you need help reading a crochet pattern, make sure you head over here and check out this detailed post.
Finished Dimensions:
Approximately 8.5″ square
Wanna save this for later?

Pattern:
Row 1: Ch-31. Ehdc in 2nd chain from hook and in each to end. (30)
Rows 2 – 18: Ch-1, turn, Ehdc in each st to end. (30)
When you finish row 18, do not fasten off.
Make a chain of 25 stitches (or more if you want your hanger longer) and fasten off leaving a long enough tail to weave in your ends.

Using your yarn needle, feel the tail through the final stitch made in row 18 and secure by thoroughly weaving in your ends.
That’s it!
I hope that, if this is your first crochet project, you feel more confident in your abilities. The sense of accomplishment is great for both building confidence, and getting any lost cro-jo back! 👐
