Are you looking for a chic, quick crochet pattern for a hair net? A snood of sorts? This Solomon’s Knot hair net crochet pattern is stylish and SO FAST to crochet. Make one today using this free crochet pattern in TWO options!

How to crochet a hair net

Solomon’s Hair Net

There are TWO patterns included in this post. The first is for a headband style that has a button at the top. The second uses less yarn and is quicker to crochet and has ties for closure instead. I find the tie closure to be both easier to put on/wear, and more comfortable. You decide which you prefer and find both of the two patterns separated out below to make sure you’re working the intended version.

Since I work from home, and rarely leave the house for a variety of reasons, I let my hair air dry 99% of the time. Because my hair is half way down my back, while wet it sits on the back of my neck and gets my shirt wet as it dries. Not a huge deal of course, but enough of an annoyance that I find it helpful to have my hair up and off my neck.

This hair net is basically a snood, a net that is intended to hold hair up and off the back and contain it in a beautiful, yet chic way. This net checks all those boxes!

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written in US terms.

Tr = Treble Crochet (tutorial here)

For this pattern we are using the Solomon’s Knot stitch – also known as the Lover’s Knot stitch. Abbreviated as “Lk” (Lover’s Knot) instead of “Sk” because the Sk looks too similar to “skip” in crochet terms.

Find a VIDEO tutorial for the Solomon’s knot here.

  1. I enjoyed making this project but I don't know how to put it on. I have long hair and it's layered so naturally it doesn't all fit in. I might have to wait until it grows the top layers out. But I can't get the long part in either.
  2. I have had this on my to do list for about a year, but kept putting it off thinking it looked to complicated. I thankfully watched your tutorial and gave it a shot. I got lost a couple times and frogged a row or 2, but all in all pretty easy. Looks super cute and is great for me and my daughter's hair. Definitely gonna make more. Thanks for the pattern!
  3. I just melted my brain learning the new stitch, but already love this hair net ( it's been on my head for less than 10 minutes)! I also have very long hair that makes my shirt damp, your lovely pattern is a fantastic solution ❤
  4. I love the pattern. ♥️ Do you put your hair in ponytail before using the hair net? Thank you Ruth
